Lifeguard Training

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to your upcoming Ellis Lifeguard Course. We have an exciting few days planned for you!

We will be meeting at the Rapids Water Park located at 6566 N Military Trail Riviera Beach, Fl 33407. We will be there all four days of class.

Please read through this entire email as the information will help prepare you for the course.

Scheduled class dates/times are as follows:

Monday June 2nd: 8:00am – 6:00pm *Renewals Attend this day

Tuesday June 3rd: 8:00am – 6:00pm 

Wednesday June 4th: 8:00am – 6:00pm 

Thursday June 5th: 8:00am - 6:00pm 

• If you are getting dropped off: please get dropped off at the employee gate located at 6500 N. Military Trail Riviera Beach, Fl 33407. It is a blue building with double glass doors. You will be given a pass that gives temporary access in and out of the park during your class.
• If you are driving yourself: please park in the VIP parking lot on Friday. It is located at 6566 N Military Trail Riviera Beach, Fl 33407. On Saturday and Sunday, please park in our employee parking lot located at the Northwest corner of the park. The address is 6598 N Military Trail Riviera Beach, Fl 33407. You will receive a pass that will give you temporary access in and out of the park during your class.

The class will include time in the classroom, on deck, and in the pool.  We will be getting in and out of the water so be prepared with towels and a change of swimsuit. We will take several breaks throughout the day; meals will be on your own.  Please be on time and prepared for class.

Screening:

All students will be expected to have completed prerequisite screening prior to this class, to include:

• 200-yard swim (Freestyle, Breaststroke, and/or Front Crawl – no stopping)

• Retrieval of a 10-pound brick

• 2 minute tread without the use of hands

 Textbook:

You should see a copy of the ILTP textbook in your course landing page (scroll to the bottom), available through your Ellis Education Portal, www.jellis.com. 

 E-learning:

Each candidate has already received access to the prerequisite e-learning programs via the Ellis Education Portal. Please complete all of the E-Learnings PRIOR to the course. If you have any difficulty accessing these resources, please contact your Trainers immediately so that the situation can be remedied. Note that the completion of these programs will require several hours - please do not wait to complete. E&A will not be able to issue licenses if you do not complete the e-learning prior to the course, so please complete the e-learning as soon as possible.

 What to Bring:

• Swimsuit

• Goggles

• Multiple towels as we may be in and out of the water

• Warm clothes/cover-ups for the outdoor pool sessions

• Water bottle

• Comfortable clothes for classroom skills/activities

• Snacks (we will have at least one meal break each day as appropriate)
