This ticket is offered at a discounted price for American Pool employees. You must have applied and interviewed for the position to be eligible to purchase this ticket.

The current ticket price reflects an agreement to work a minimum of 175 hours for American Pool during the 2026 season. If the minimum hour requirement is not met by September 2, 2026, the employee will be responsible for paying the difference between the discounted ticket price and the full course cost.

- Lifeguarding class (non‑employees): $450.00
- Pool Operator class (non‑employees): $100.00

Proof of Employment Requirement (Refund Eligibility)
Refunds are only permitted to employees who have:

-Successfully completed all employee onboarding paperwork, and
- Passed their Zoom interview.

All purchases made outside of the employee‑only discount are FINAL SALE.

Course Policies

Low Enrollment: All courses hosted by American Pool require a minimum of six (6) students enrolled prior to the first day of training. If minimum enrollment is not met, American Pool reserves the right to cancel the course.

- No refunds will be issued.
-Students will be contacted and offered a free transfer to the next available class.

Weather Cancellation: No refunds will be issued if a class is cancelled due to weather concerns. Students will be contacted and offered a free reschedule to the next available course.

Participant Cancellation

- 2 weeks or more before the course start date: Full refund minus a $25 processing fee.
-Less than 2 weeks before the course start date: No refund; payment may be applied to a future course with a $35 transfer fee.
- No‑Show: No refund will be issued.

Calling or emailing the facility where the course is held does not constitute a valid cancellation and will not be honored for refund purposes.

Refunds (minus the $25 processing fee) will be issued to the original payment method. 

Rescheduling a Course – Non‑Emergency

To reschedule for non‑emergency reasons:
- A $35 transfer fee is required.
- Students must email the Training Department at dmvsafety@americanpool.com at least three (3) business days in advance.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in ineligibility for the next available course.

Rescheduling a Course – Emergency

Students may receive a free transfer to the next available course. Notification must be provided within 24 hours after the first day of training, along with supporting documentation (e.g., doctor’s note, obituary, accident report).

Attendance Policies

Students are expected to arrive on time with all required items (swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, food, water).

- American Pool enforces a 15‑minute late arrival policy. Entry after this window is at the Lifeguard Instructor’s discretion.
-To pass the course, students must be present for the entire duration.
-Instructors reserve the right to dismiss students who are not fully present or engaged.

E‑Learning Policies

To attend in‑person lifeguard training, e‑learning must be completed by Monday prior to the training weekend.

- Failure to complete e‑learning will result in ineligibility for in‑person training.
- If rescheduling is requested, e‑learning must be completed and a $35 transfer fee will apply.

Failing Any Portion of the Course

If a student fails any portion of the Lifeguard Course (CPR test‑out, ILTP final exam, final scenario, or prerequisites), they will be contacted and offered a free transfer to the next available class.

- One (1) free re‑take is allowed.
- After a second failed attempt, a $35 transfer fee will apply.

No‑Show Policy

If a student No‑Shows, no refund will be issued.

Arriving more than one (1) hour late is considered a No‑Show.
- The student must pay in full for a new course; prior payments will not be transferred.
- No exceptions will be made.

Course Description

An international renowned, hands-on lifeguard course that is highly interactive and physically enduring. The course is a comprehensive training program that promotes objective driven and performance based training for individuals wishing to obtain a new ILTP™ certification for shallow water, pool, special facilities, and/or open water, in various water depths ranging from less than 5` feet of water up to any depth and/or open water. Our International Lifeguard Training Programs (ILTP™) are designed and intended to be delivered as part of an integrated curriculum that includes water rescue techniques, First Aid, Health Care Provider CPR, Emergency Oxygen Support, and Automated External Defibrillation as a first responder.  This course requires students to perform each concept taught in the course, through student demonstrations of all skills concepts and skills instructed.  Students will participate in lifeguarding roles throughout the class and are expected to perform lifeguard duties as first responders.  Students will perform on deck and in water simulations, drills and exercises for rescue techniques as an individual and in team scenarios as part of multiple rescuers drills.  The ILTP Lifeguard course materials are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai and simplified Chinese languages.  Students that successfully complete the ILTP Lifeguard course obtain an ILTP certificate that is valid for one (1) year. Annual renewal is required. Successful candidates can earn anywhere from 2.2 to 2.6 IACET CEUs depending on the level of certification achieved in the program.
