Course Objective:

The focus of this class is to ensure everyone has the ability to identify emergency situations and render care to others. All candidates attending this course will be expected to demonstrate CPR/AED and First Aid skills. We will be making every effort possible to accommodate all learning styles and certify everyone.

📚 Textbooks:

You should see a copy of each of the textbooks in your course binder, available through your Ellis Education Portal,  https://app.pectora.com/.  Please use the Community CPR & AED textbook and the Standard First Aid textbook. If you would like a hardcopy of the textbooks, a few copies will be available for use during the class.

đź”— E-learning:

Each enrollee has already received access to the e-learning programs via Pectora. Please complete all the e-learning modules PRIOR to the course. If you have difficulty accessing these resources, please get in touch with me (Zac Dickerson) immediately so that I can help. Note that completing the modules will require a few hours—please do not wait! We are not permitted to issue certifications if you do not complete the e-learning prior to the course, so please complete the e-learning as soon as possible!

🎒 What to Bring:

  • photo ID
  • water bottle and hydrating drinks
  • comfortable clothes for classroom skills and activities
  • SNACKS (We will take a short break on Saturday, but you won’t have time to leave. Bring a snack if you like.)
  • pen or pencil and notebook (optional if you like to take notes).

đź’µ Course Payment:

The cost of this course is $75.00. This is paid before attending the first day or on the day of the class. You can pay by coming into Muletown Rec before the first day of the course. It is recommended that you do this as soon as possible. If a lot of candidates wait to pay on the day of the class, it may make some late for the first day of the class. We do not accept checks, but we can make a bank draft from your check routing number.

Muletown Rec Day-Pass Waivers & Sex Offender Checks:

Each person who enters the facility must complete a Day-Pass Waiver AND Sex Offender Check. The Day-Pass Waiver can be found and filled out on the website, https://www.waiverking.com/linkpage/muletownrec. Please complete this waiver before arriving on the first day, as it will take several minutes per person in the class and can cause those who wait to be late for the class. The Sex Offender Check will be completed by the facility and will only require that you bring a photo ID.

Course Description

This is a course for the general community desiring national CPR/AED and Standard (Basic) First Aid certification at the community level. The blended learning course is a comprehensive educational program promoting objective driven and performance based training that has an integrated curriculum. The curriculum’s first aid component includes training in scene and victim assessment, caring for injuries, caring for medical emergencies, injury prevention, and emergency moves. The curriculum’s CPR component includes training in adult and pediatric CPR, using an automated external defibrillation (AED), caring for airway obstruction, and preventing and caring for heart attack and stroke.  This course satisfies the required medical content defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for workplace CPR/AED & Standard First Aid training.  The course is ideal for individuals seeking certification for job requirements, as well as those just desiring to learn lifesaving skills and information. This hands-on course covers content defined by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and promulgated through the publication of the “CPR and ECC Guidelines by the American Heart Association.
